There's something especially beautiful about Christmas in Ave Maria, Florida. Maybe it's the magnificent Oratory standing in the heart of town, the families gathering for Mass, or the sound of Christmas music reminding us of what this season is really about. While Southwest Florida is filled with Christmas lights, holiday shopping, and festive celebrations, there's something wonderful about a community where faith remains at the center of Christmas. And this year, Ave Maria Catholic Parish has a beautiful lineup of Advent and Christmas events for the whole family! Whether you're a parishioner, a seasonal snowbird, or visiting from Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, or Fort Myers, these celebrations offer a wonderful opportunity to experience the joy and true meaning of Christmas. ⛪ A Christmas Season Rooted in Faith, Family & Tradition One of the things we love most about Ave Maria is that our Catholic faith is such a visible part of everyday life. During Advent, that becomes even more meaningful. Between decorating the house, Christmas shopping, school activities, and family gatherings, it's easy to get caught up in the busyness of the season. But Advent reminds us to prepare our hearts, not just our homes, for the coming of Jesus Christ. And here in Ave Maria, there are so many beautiful opportunities to do exactly that. From Advent retreats and Christmas concerts to the Nativity Play and Lessons & Carols, these are the traditions that help make Christmas in our community so special. 🎄 Advent & Christmas Events at Ave Maria Catholic Parish 2026 Here's a look at the parish's upcoming celebrations. November 30 – December 2: Parish Advent Retreat 7:00–8:30 PM | Church What better way to begin Advent than by taking some time to prepare spiritually for Christmas? The parish will welcome Fr. Ryan Connors, STD, for a three-evening Advent retreat, offering an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Confessions will also be available. In a season that can become overwhelmingly busy, this is a wonderful opportunity to slow down and remember why we're celebrating. December 5, 10, 11, 12, 18 & 19: Christmas Concerts 🎶 7:00 PM | Ave Maria Catholic Parish There's something about Christmas music that brings people together. Throughout December, Ave Maria Catholic Parish will host several Christmas concerts, including outdoor performances in front of the church. The main Christmas concert takes place Thursday, December 10, at 7:00 PM inside the church. Whether you're attending with family, meeting friends, or simply looking for a peaceful evening filled with beautiful Christmas music, these concerts are a wonderful addition to your holiday calendar. Outdoor concerts are scheduled for December 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19. December 12: Las Mañanitas 5:30 AM | Church Join the parish for Las Mañanitas, a beautiful early-morning tradition associated with the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It's another wonderful example of the rich Catholic traditions celebrated within our community. December 12: Eucharistic Procession & Dialogue 2:30 PM | Beginning Inside the Church The parish will gather for a Eucharistic Procession & Dialogue, offering an opportunity to come together in prayer and deepen our faith during the Advent season. December 13: Nativity Play & Petting Zoo 🐑 2:30 PM – Petting Zoo 3:00 PM – Nativity Play in Front of the Church Now this is one we're especially excited about! For families with young children, the Nativity Play is a wonderful opportunity to experience the story of Christ's birth in a way they'll remember. The afternoon begins with a petting zoo at 2:30 PM, followed by the Nativity Play at 3:00 PM. There's something so special about watching children discover the beauty of Christmas through the story of the Holy Family, the shepherds, and the birth of our Savior. These are the kinds of family traditions that create memories for years to come. And what a beautiful way to remind our children that Christmas is about so much more than presents beneath the tree. December 15: Lessons & Carols 7:00 PM | Inside the Church If you've never attended Lessons & Carols, this is a beautiful tradition worth experiencing. Through Scripture readings and sacred music, Lessons & Carols tells the story of salvation and the coming of Jesus Christ. For those looking for meaningful Catholic Christmas events near Naples or a peaceful evening of reflection during Advent, this is a wonderful opportunity. December 17: Advent Penance Service & Holy Hour 6:30 PM | Church As Christmas approaches, the parish will gather for an Advent Penance Service and Holy Hour. In the midst of the holiday rush, this offers an opportunity to step away from the noise and spend time in prayer. Sometimes the most meaningful Christmas preparations are the ones that happen quietly, away from the shopping lists and decorations. December 31: New Year's Eve Vigil 9:00 PM | Church What better way to close out the year than in prayer? Ave Maria Catholic Parish will hold a New Year's Eve Vigil, offering an opportunity to reflect on the blessings of 2026 and welcome the new year with faith and gratitude. ❤️ The Kind of Christmas Traditions That Make Ave Maria Special We often talk about what makes Ave Maria such a wonderful place to call home. Of course, there's the beautiful Town Center, the friendly neighbors, the local businesses, and the events that bring everyone together. But for many of us, it's the Catholic faith and the traditions we share that make this community truly special. Seeing families come together for Mass, children participating in parish celebrations, and volunteers giving their time to make these events possible is a beautiful reminder of what community is all about. And whether you're a young family, a retiree, or a seasonal visitor spending Christmas in Southwest Florida, there's something here for everyone. A heartfelt thank you to the priests, parish staff, volunteers, musicians, and everyone helping make these Advent and Christmas celebrations possible. ✨ Experience a Hallmark Christmas in Ave Maria! While you're visiting the parish, why not make a day or evening of it? From November 21, 2026, through January 6, 2027, the Ave Maria Town Center will be transformed for Knights of Lights, a free Christmas light display presented in partnership with the Knights of Columbus. Imagine enjoying a beautiful Christmas concert, stepping outside into the Town Center, and strolling beneath festive lights with your family. It almost sounds like something out of a Hallmark Christmas movie! Except this isn't a movie set. It's Ave Maria, Florida. And the celebration supports the charitable mission of the Knights of Columbus, making it even more meaningful. From Advent to Christmas and Epiphany One of the beautiful things about our Catholic faith is that Christmas doesn't end on December 25. While the world may begin packing away decorations the day after Christmas, the Church continues celebrating the joy of Christ's birth. January 6 is traditionally associated with the Epiphany of the Lord, commemorating the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child. In the United States, the liturgical observance of Epiphany is celebrated on a nearby Sunday. It's a beautiful reminder that Christmas is more than a single day. It's a season of joy, hope, and gratitude. And in a town named Ave Maria, that message feels especially meaningful. Wishing You a Blessed Advent & Merry Christmas! As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, we hope you'll find time to enjoy the many beautiful traditions taking place at Ave Maria Catholic Parish. Whether you're attending an Advent retreat, enjoying a Christmas concert, bringing the children to the Nativity Play, or simply spending a quiet moment in prayer, may this season bring you and your family closer to the true meaning of Christmas.
