Who says you have to wait until 5 o'clock to start dreaming about paradise?
Here in Southwest Florida, sunshine, palm trees, waterfront views, and a refreshing margarita just seem to go together.
And if there's one cocktail that captures the laid-back spirit of the Florida lifestyle, it's the classic margarita!
This week's Snowbird Living featured cocktail is The Perfect Margarita, inspired by the tropical atmosphere of 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.
Whether you're spending the winter in Southwest Florida, enjoying a weekend getaway, or simply looking for a refreshing cocktail to make at home, this one's worth trying.
What Makes the Perfect Margarita?
A great margarita is all about balance.
The refreshing tartness of lime, the smooth character of tequila, and just a touch of citrus sweetness come together to create a cocktail that's simple, refreshing, and wonderfully tropical.
This particular recipe uses three varieties of Margaritaville tequila, a splash of orange curaçao, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
The result is a bright, citrus-forward margarita that's perfect for sipping on a warm Florida afternoon.
And let's face it, there's something about a salted rim and a fresh lime wedge that makes everything feel a little more like vacation!
The Perfect Margarita Recipe
Ingredients
1 ounce Margaritaville Gold Tequila
½ ounce Margaritaville Silver Tequila
½ ounce Margaritaville Triple Tequila
1 splash orange curaçao
1¼ ounces lime juice
Crushed ice
3 fresh lime wedges
Coarse salt for the rim
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare your shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the Gold Tequila, Silver Tequila, Triple Tequila, orange curaçao, and lime juice.
Squeeze the juice from two lime wedges into the shaker.
Step 2: Shake it up
Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and the ingredients are well chilled.
Step 3: Prepare your glass
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your margarita glass, then dip the rim into coarse salt.
Fill the glass halfway with crushed ice.
Step 4: Pour and garnish
Strain the margarita mixture into your prepared glass.
Squeeze the remaining lime wedge over the drink and drop it in for an extra burst of citrus flavor.
And there you have it!
The Perfect Margarita, ready to enjoy.
